Q-News Bust Flesh For Fantasy San Bernardino, CD: San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman asked a judge to close a nude cabaret for a year and issue a court order barring it from sponsoring lewd behavior in the future. The proposed sanctions cap the latest round of litigation in a lawsuit against the Flesh Club, part of a 12-year campaign by city leaders to close the Hospitality Lane business. San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Donald Alvarez plans to issue a ruling in April. Private attorneys representing Penman and the city government have invoked the state Red Light Abatement Act, a law aimed at shutting down brothels. In seven months of on-again, off-again hearings, the lawyers have presented lurid testimony on alleged lewd conduct, soliciting and acts of prostitution. A prosecution brief submitted Monday lists 87 alleged offenses between July 1999 and January 2007. In addition to the temporary closure, the brief asks Alvarez to fine the club $25,000, tear down a "VIP room," where most of the prostitution allegedly occurred, and prohibit any physical contact between dancers and customers. Flesh Club attorney Roger Jon Diamond said the case against his client lacks substance. Only once, Diamond said, have prosecutors found sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges. Several times in May 2000, two San Bernardino police officers, one posing as a disabled man in a wheelchair in order to conceal a hidden camera, posed as customers inside the Flesh Club. The officers paid for private sex shows performed by two female dancers at a time in the VIP room. County prosecutors won convictions against two club managers and eight dancers for prostitution, pimping and pandering. But a state appeals court overturned the convictions, ruling that the sex shows did not constitute prostitution. The state Supreme Court declined to review the case. Never before or since, Diamond said, have authorities made an arrest. "That's the thing that's unusual about this case," he said. "Typically, in abatement actions, they have a stack of arrest reports that they can cite as evidence. Here, they don't have anything." Diamond speculated that Penman brought the renewed action because he disapproves of the club's presence in the heart of a thriving business district characterized by family restaurants. The attorney subpoenaed Penman to testify, but the city's lawyers successfully argued that compelling him to discuss the case would violate attorney-client privilege. Penman did not attend the hearing and could not be reached for comment. San Bernardino officials have been trying to close the Flesh Club since January 1995, when they won a court order closing the cabaret for violating zoning ordinances. A year later, a Superior Court judge lifted the order. The city appealed. In 1999, a state appeals court found San Bernardino's regulations to be unconstitutional, in part because they did not allow for an alternative location where the club could do business. The court faulted the city for failing to produce sufficient evidence that a topless club would hurt the quality of life along Hospitality Lane. In June 2004, the club's management company won a $1.4 million judgment against the city for profits lost during the closure. But the jury in that case found that prostitution accounted for some Flesh Club profits after it reopened. At the time, Penman said he would use that finding to renew his quest to close the club. The city has paid about a half-million dollars in legal fees for Flesh Club litigation. In court, Diamond conceded that prostitution arrests go with the business. But fistfights often break out during hockey games, and that's no reason to outlaw hockey, he said. Nude cabarets shouldn't get such sweeping treatment either, Diamond said. City lawyer Christopher Lockwood said there's ample evidence of a pattern of prostitution at the Flesh Club. Arresting individual dancers would have been pointless, because others would have continued the unlawful sex, Lockwood said. "Once you make an arrest, the word goes out and your investigation is over," he said. "There's another way to do it. You build your case, and you go for the more comprehensive remedy against the club." Tax-payers should be livid! ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() 2/22/2007
Q-Sex News Man Pulls Sword On Man Pulling His Sword While Watching Porn Oconomowoc, WI: A would be hero heard a neighbor watching an adult film, but mistakenly thought a woman was being raped. Bret Stieghorst was watching an adult movie with the volume up loud. His downstairs neighbor, James Van Iveren, heard a woman screaming in the movie, but thought a woman was actually being attacked. Instead of calling police, he took matters into his own hands, ran up the stairs and broke down the door, all while brandishing a three-foot long military-style sword. "He comes in with this three-foot long sword and starts pointing it at me, and going, 'Where is she?'" Stieghorst said. Van Iveren continued to point the sword at Stieghorst while he searched the apartment to make sure no woman was being held against her will. When Van Iveren did not find anyone else in the apartment, he left. Van Iveren was charged with criminal trespass while using a dangerous weapon, criminal damage to property while using a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct while using a dangerous weapon, misdemeanors which carry a maximum total penalty of 33 months in jail. "The fact that he was at least trying to do something good, that's at least good," Stieghorst said. Neighbors agree, "I would be happy if someone tried to save me," Kandy Kimball said. "I think he's a good guy. I feel bad for him." "It's kind of nice that we live in a town where people don't just turn their back and look the other way," David Peterson said. "I don't think he should be charged with three crimes. I would like to see the courts work with him and give the guy a little break." "It was a woman screaming," Van Iveren said of the Feb. 12 incident. "She was screaming for help." He grabbed the sword, a family heirloom, bounded up the stairs to the other apartment, kicked in the door and confronted Stieghorst. "I intended to hold it behind my back and knock. But I froze and instead, what happened happened," Van Iveren said. "Now I feel stupid. This really is nothing, nothing but a mistake." Van Iveren said that he does not have a telephone, so he could not call police when he heard the calls for help. He said he barely knew Stieghorst. "It had nothing to do with him," he said. "I didn't even know if he was there. It was the woman. I thought there was a woman." "I walked in the front room and looked around. When I saw there was no woman, I left," he said. Van Iveren insisted that he never threatened the neighbor with the sword. "I had the sword extended. But that was all," he said. Van Iveren will appear in court March 5. Stieghorst said the incident will not deter him from watching pornography, but he'll have to alter his viewing habits. "I'm just going to watch it with the sound down, or I'll buy myself some decent headphones," he said. This poor fucker, how will he ever jackoff again? ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() ![]() 2/20/2007
Q-News Bust New Jersey Massage Parlor Stung Boonton, NJ: A Web site masquerading as a so called gold mine for spa-seekers led police to bust a Main Street massage parlor that promoted prostitution and arrest two women, authorities said Friday. Ying Zi Pei, 41, and Fenshan Huang, 35, both of Flushing, NY., were charged with engaging in prostitution on Thursday and released, said Lt. Ed Krok. Police began investigating the Boonton Spa on Main Street after receiving several complaints from residents of the building. A tip drew authorities to the Web, where the Boonton business was prominently advertised on message boards. More information gleaned from the messages revealed prostitution was offered, as well as massages, he said. Two undercover officers from Parsippany entered the business, on the lower floor of the building around 5pm. on Thursday, and were solicited by Pei and Huang, Krok said. Both were arrested and police seized $1,170 in cash and daily receipt logs, he said. The owner of the business, a Flushing woman whose name was not released, was not on the premises, he said. She faces charges for promoting prostitution, as well as additional charges for town code and health violations, Krok said. "It looked like somebody was actually living there," said Krok, of the business, which is located in a renovated apartment building at 404-408 Main Street. The Boonton Spa, which opened in late 2005, is one of approximately four Main Street massage parlors busted for prostitution in the past two decades, said Krok, a 24-year veteran of the force. Q-Sex News Chippendales Dancers Busted? Lubbock TX: Police arrested eight Chippendales dancers and three others during the first of three sold out performances Friday, accusing them of violating the city's adult entertainment ordinance. Officers raided Jake's Sports Cafe about 30 minutes after the show started and the venue was closed. They arrested the venue's manager, the show's promoter and the dancers' manager along with the dancers in front of a disgruntled crowd of women. Shortly after, several hundred women began chanting, "Bring them back, bring them back" and "the City Council sucks, the City Council sucks." Authorities say the dancers violated a city ordinance which bars contact between entertainers and patrons. Lt. Greg Stevens of the Lubbock Police said the dancers were simulating sexual positions with audience members. Jake's Sports Bar owner, Scott Stephenson, said his establishment did everything as planned to abide by the city ordinance. "Comparatively, it's a classy production," said Greg Jackson, Jake's Sports Cafe booking agent, adding that Chippendale dancers do not take off all their clothes. Stephenson said he feels the police were there to shut them down. Police says they intend to get an arrest warrant for Stephenson. Q-Sex News Air Force Strips Playboy Poser Of Status San Antonio, TX: An Air Force drill sergeant who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been removed from active duty, she and the Air Force said. Michelle Manhart, who appeared in a six-page spread in Playboy's February issue, said she got word Friday that she was removed from "extended active duty," and was also told that she was demoted from staff sergeant to senior airman. "I'm disappointed in our system," Manhart told The AP. "They went too far with it." Manhart said that she was reverted to her Air National Guard status and that she submitted a "resignation" to the Guard, which she said is pending. Manhart was a member of the Iowa Air National Guard before going on extended active duty. Oscar Balladares, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, confirmed that Manhart was removed from extended active duty Friday but said Lackland did not discharge her. "She was removed from active duty status, and thus reverted to National Guard status," Balladares said. "It is not up to the Air Force, it is not our jurisdiction to discharge her." Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, a spokesman for the Iowa National Guard, said that because the Guard did not have "documentation of her separation" from the Air Force, it did not have her on duty status. Manhart, a 30-year-old mother of two, said the military's action against her hinged on the fact that she was pictured wearing her uniform. She was photographed in uniform yelling and holding weapons under the headline "Tough Love." The following pages showed her partially clothed wearing dog tags and fully nude. After the pictorial hit newsstands in January, Manhart was relieved of her duties pending an investigation. Oh come on guys.... $2.00 Bob ![]() ![]() 2/13/2007
Q-Sex News Don't Ask, Don't... Holy Shit! St. Petersburg, RUSSIA: The Russian military is reported to be investigating claims that army conscripts were forced to work as male prostitutes in St Petersburg. The command of the interior ministry unit denied the claims made by the Soldiers' Mothers human rights group. The group says it was contacted by a parent of a conscript who had been forced to work as a male prostitute. Last year, an 18-year-old soldier was so badly beaten that he had to have his legs and genitals amputated. The BBC's James Rodgers in Moscow says the latest claims follow a series of scandals which have damaged the Russian army's reputation. A spokeswoman for the Soldiers' Mothers, Ella Polyakova, told the BBC that in St Petersburg there was "a network of clients" who would pay for sex with soldiers. Older servicemen are said to have forced younger conscripts into prostitution and then taken the money for themselves. The Sychev bullying case drew worldwide attention to Russian army abuses. Private Andrei Sychev was forced to squat for several hours by fellow soldiers and then tied to a chair and brutally beaten up last year. As a result he developed gangrene in his legs and genitals, which had to be amputated. Now permanently disabled, Pte Sychev has just announced that he is to write a book about his ordeal. Such cases have highlighted the appalling conditions suffered by some Russian service personnel at a time when Russia is seeking a greater role on the world stage, our correspondent says. Q-Sex News Nude Mannequin Cause Uproar Minneapolis, MN: City staff want Sinners Gentlemen's Club to stop displaying nude mannequins in it's Washington Avenue window display, but club ownership is appealing to keep the mannequins up. According to city code, sexually oriented businesses cannot display "merchandise or pictures of the products or entertainment on the premises," in the building windows. Jerry Buchanan, who owns the building that houses Sinners at 121 Washington Avenue N., said he does not believe the code applies to the window display at Sinners. "It's a stretch to say a headless mannequin is the product available," he said. "It's a civil liberties issue." Buchanan said he expects elected officials to rule against the business and said the issue would likely end up in federal court. "I think the city will eventually lose," he said. The thieves struck as the van belonging to the Nice N Naughty adult sex shop was parked in Liverpool city center. Thirty-six sex toys, together with 18 tubs of chocolate body paint and 12 blow-up dolls were taken at around 6.30pm. "The business is extremely busy at the moment and it is crucial we get this stock replaced as quickly as possible, particularly as Valentine's Day is fast approaching." The thieves also stole a satellite navigation system and an iPod from the van. Mr Prescott added: "These items were due to go on display in our store in Newport Street, in Bolton." Q-News Bust Tanning Business Gets Burnt Everett, WA: Some women working at an Everett tanning salon sell more than artificial suntans, police are alleging. An undercover Everett detective and three other men working with police say they were offered sex for money at Paradise Tanning Spa, located at 6917 Evergreen Way, according to a search warrant filed Monday in Everett Municipal Court. One spa employee has been cited for prostitution. The business owner also is under investigation, police said. Everett detectives have been investigating Paradise Tanning as a front for a prostitution operation since August. That's when a detective found an advertisement for the business listed in a "sensual" section of The Seattle Weekly, according to court documents. The ads were also placed in The Stranger. "I'm not sure why people think police don't look at these newspapers. We are paying attention and we will respond as we need to," Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. Everett investigators also received a complaint from a man who told them he went to the tanning salon for some "relaxation," and was eventually propositioned by an employee. That led police to stake out the business. Investigators noted that no women customers were seen entering the tanning salon. There were no signs, exterior lights or hours of operation posted. Security cameras were set up at the front and rear of the business. All the windows were tinted and the front door was locked, forcing customers to ring a bell to gain entrance. Unusual activity also caught the attention of neighboring business owners. Police sent two informants into the business in November. The men reported back that two different women massaged them and offered them sex. One employee asked one of the men to prove he wasn't a police officer. The man told detectives he exposed himself to the woman, who quickly disrobed and brought out a condom. Last week, police arrested one woman for investigation of prostitution after she reportedly touched an undercover police officer's genitals and offered him sex for $120, according to the search warrant. Investigators searched the business and seized money, condoms, a suitcase full of lingerie and schedule books. The business remains open while police investigate the salon's licenses, Goetz said. All four men say the offers for sex occurred during massages. The owner doesn't have a license with the city or state to provide massage, according to police. Q-Sex News Another Reason To Kiss The Ground You Live On In The Great U.S. of A. Riyadh, SAUDI ARABIA: A Saudi Arabian judge sentenced 20 foreigners to receive lashes and spend several months in prison after convicting them of attending a party where alcohol was served and men and women danced, a newspaper reported. The defendants were among 433 foreigners, including some 240 women, arrested by the kingdom's religious police for attending the party in Jiddah. The newpaper did not identify the foreigners, give their nationalities or say when the party took place. Judge Saud al-Boushi sentenced the 20 to prison terms of three to four months and ordered them to receive an unspecified number of lashes, the newspaper said. They have the right to appeal, it added. The prosecutor general charged the 20 with "drinking, arranging for impudent party, mixed dancing and shooting a video for the party," Okaz said. The paper said the rest of those arrested were awaiting trial. Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which it bans alcohol and meetings between unrelated men and women. The religious police, a force resented by many Saudis for interfering in personal lives, enjoys wide powers. It's officers roam malls, markets, universities and other public places looking for such infractions as unrelated men and women mingling, men skipping Islam's five daily prayers and women with strands of hair showing from under their veil. In May, the Interior Ministry restricted the powers of the religious police to just arresting suspects, because the police sometimes had held people incommunicado and insisted on taking part in ensuing investigations. Q-News Bust Escort-Service Owner In Jackpot Spokane, WA: The operator of a large-scale Spokane escort service is accused of laundering more than $3 million in profits from her prostitution ring through Northern Quest Casino where she also occasionally hustled customers. Cheryl Mae Larson remained in jail under a $500,000 bond on state charges of money laundering and promoting prostitution, both felonies. Her associate, Ricky V. Doran, who acted as a driver and bodyguard for prostitutes, was booked on a charge of promoting prostitution, investigators said. The two suspects, who are both 48, were arrested, documents disclose that Larson spent as much as $10,000 a year for telephone book advertising for at least five different "escort services" she operated, "Cheryl's Class, AA Always Available, A Extra Help, Consulting Services and Gents for Rent." Customers of both genders would call those escort businesses, and male or female prostitutes would be driven to the customer's local, frequently hotel and motor inn rooms throughout the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene areas, said Gary Drumheller, special agent with the Washington state Gambling Commission. Instead of depositing money from her escort operations in a bank account, Larson is accused of buying gambling tickets at Northern Quest, apparently an attempt to launder the illegal proceeds so they would be harder to track, Drumheller said. Criminal investigators with the Gambling Commission opened the investigation in late 2005 after developing information that Larson frequently was seen acting suspiciously at Northern Quest, a large Airway Heights casino operated by the Kalispel Tribe, Drumheller said. "They thought something was suspicious about her, both the amount of money she was gambling, plus the people she was meeting and interacting with at the casino," Drumheller said. "Northern Quest was very cooperative," and is accused of no wrongdoing, the state gambling investigator said. At the casino, Larson had a "Camas Club" card, and her purchases of gambling tickets were meticulously recorded by computers which are audited, court documents say. Surveillance cameras frequently recorded Larson using her cell phone in the casino, and she also regularly was seen with various younger women. Casino records reveal Larson is "one of the top 25 bettors" at Northern Quest, the court documents say. Court documents said that between 2003 and the time of her arrest, Larson's "buy-ins at the electronic machines exceed $3.3 million, while her cash-outs exceed $3.1 million." The $200,000 difference between the "buy-ins" and "cash-outs" accounted for Larson's losses at the casino, Drumheller said. Larson was arrested in Airway Heights where she personally responded to a request from an undercover officer who called one of her escort services and asked for a sex act. After her arrest, other gambling agents used a search warrant to seize a computer and other business records from Larson's home at 3004 West South Loop, in west Spokane. Those computer and business files apparently contain the names of various men and women who have called her escort services, Drumheller said. Doran, who identified himself as Larson's boyfriend, also lived at the home and was paid $25 for each time he drove an "escort" to a client's hotel room, the court documents said. Larson is a "confirmed associate" of John Earl Petersen, who was convicted in U.S. District Court in Spokane in 1998 of embezzling more than $6 million from a Montana bank, according to the newly filed court documents. Petersen, who served a federal prison sentence, is now out and on supervised release. He was named, but not charged in the criminal case filed against Larson and Doran. Q-News Bust Sex Extortion In New York Mineola, NY: A Long Island couple videotaped and photographed sexual encounters they had with people they met over the Internet, then forced them to pay hush money, police said. A preliminary investigation has uncovered two victims, but Nassau County police Detective Lt. Ray Cote said there could be dozens of others, given the large number of videos and photographs investigators have confiscated. Police allege that Shawn Payne, 34, of East Hampton, and Michael Largue, 45, of Franklin Square, met potential victims on an Internet site. A 43-year-old Long Island man told police that he had become involved in a relationship and was being blackmailed to keep it quiet. "Unbeknownst to our victim, he was videotaped and photographed in compromising sexual positions," Cote said. Police said they have found a second victim, a 47-year-old woman from upstate New York. They allege Largue had a sexual relationship with her and presented himself as a financial adviser, cajoling her into giving him $51,000. Both alleged victims were in the midst of divorce proceedings a fact Payne and Largue seized upon to pressure the victims into paying, police said. Police also allege that Largue held such sway over the female alleged victim that he eventually persuaded her to engage in acts of prostitution. Cote declined to elaborate. Payne was charges of grand larceny, promoting prostitution and scheming to defraud, and remained held on $20,000 bond. Largue was awaiting arraignment on a charge of grand larceny.
