Q-News Bust Operation Trick-Or-Treat Kansas City, MO: Kansas City Missouri Police make major undercover crackdown on prostitution nabbing more than 100 suspected johns, and the sting is not over yet. It is a two-week long sting where police are hitting areas across Kansas City known for prostitution. It started 10 days ago and will continue through Halloween. "By the time we get to the 31st we will have made as many arrests in 14 days as we have made the entire year doing this throughout the entire year," said Maj. Gary Majors of the Kansas City Police Department. One pursuit ended six blocks away from the operation. Police say they do not want to make an arrest near the decoys for fear of tipping off the johns. "We have an undercover female officer acting as a prostitute picking up the johns," said Sgt. Jason Clump. Police are also posing as johns as they crack down on prostitutes. They say the number of arrests may break records. "It's a sad record to have to break, actually, but we're going to make quite a few arrests," said Maj. Majors. Police say this is the department's longest continuous prostitution sting ever. And suspects aren't seeing the humor in the operation's name. "This is operation trick-or-treat, however, they're not finding it real funny when they're going to jail," said Sgt. Clump. Q-News Bust All The Way From Memphis Memphis, TN: Ten individuals made their first appearance in federal court after a raid on alleged brothels in Memphis. "It's their initial appearance, where they are read their charges," said Leigh Anne Jordan, Law Enforcement Coordinator of the U.S. Attorney's Office. "They may or may not have a detainment hearing at that time." The court appearance stemmed from an alleged Hispanic prostitution ring raid that occurred October 13, involving the U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, the Memphis Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The raid involved about 150 authorities. The 15-count indictment claims that the men advertised the prostitution services with business cards. Men, who paid $30 for 15 minutes with a woman, were given a poker chip or bead to show they had paid. The ring, involving six homes and apartments in Memphis, included four residences within four miles of The University of Memphis. The closest home was off Summer Avenue and Perkins Road. The proximity of the brothels bothered some U of M students. "I feel that prostitution as a whole is wrong and for something to be so close to campus is scary," said Tiffany McGhee, a sophomore business management major. Other students thought that the idea of prostitution, in general, was bad. "I think it's sad that people think they have to resort to outside sexual gratification, that they would have to pay for it," said Debra Anders, a sophomore nursing major. The indictment also alleges the defendants divided the proceeds from prostitution activities, as well as paid the rent, utilities, cell phone bills and for transportation. The women involved, mostly illegal immigrants, came from New York, Illinois, Georgia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Colombia to work in the establishments. The Memphis FBI could not release any comment on the arrests. Sounds like Debra Andrews is going to make some guy a real happy husband! ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() ![]() 10/25/2006
Q-Sex News Who's Calling? London, ENGLAND: Heavy use of mobile phones may damage men's fertility, a study has suggested. Researchers found those men who used a phone for four hours or more a day had fewer sperm and those they had moved less well and were of poorer quality. The Ohio study involving 364 men was presented to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in New Orleans. But a UK expert said it was unlikely the phones were to blame, as they were in use and not near the testes, and it may be being sedentary was the cause. The team from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio tested the sperm of 364 men who were being treated at fertility clinics in Mumbai, India, with their partners. It was found that the heaviest users, those who used their phones for more than four hours a day had the lowest average sperm counts, at 50 million per millilitre (ml) and the least healthy sperm. Men who used their phones for between two and four hours a day averaged sperm counts of 69 million per ml and had moderately healthy sperm. Those who said they did not use mobile phones at all had the highest average sperm counts, of 86 million per ml, and their sperm was of the highest quality seen. 'Used without thinking twice' Dr Ashok Agarwal, who led the research, told the New Orleans conference the study did not prove mobiles damaged fertility, but said it showed more research was warranted. "There was a significant decrease in the most important measures of sperm health and that should definitely be reflected in a decrease in fertility, which is seen worldwide. People use mobile phones without thinking twice what the consequences might be. It is just like using a toothbrush, but mobiles could be having a devastating effect on fertility. It still has to be proved, but it could be having a huge impact because mobiles are so much part of lives." He suggested radiation from mobile phones might harm sperm by damaging DNA, affecting the cells in the testes which produce testosterone or the tubes where sperm is produced. But a British expert cast doubt on the suggested link between mobile phone use and infertility in the men studied. Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield, said, "This is a good study, but I don't think it tackles the issue. If you're using your phone for four hours a day, presumably it is out of your pocket for longer. That raises a big question: how is it that testicular damage is supposed to occur?" Dr Pacey, who is honorary secretary of the British Fertility Society, added: "If you are holding it up to your head to speak a lot, it makes no sense that it is having a direct effect on your testes." He added that people who use phones for longer might be more sedentary, more stressed or eat more junk food, which might be more likely explanations for the link found in the study. Q-News Bust Aloha! Honolulu, HI: An undercover raid of four massage parlors on Ward Avenue last night resulted in the arrest of six women on suspicion of prostitution and licensing violations, police said. Police narcotics and vice squad officers raided Rose Marri, Pink, Rappongi Relaxation and The Golden Queen massage parlors, all second-floor establishments in the 300 block of Ward Avenue, after receiving complaints from the public, said police Maj. Kevin Lima. "We've been to these businesses within the past 12 months," Lima said. "We decided to pool resources with state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and Immigration and Customs Enforcement." The raid was launched at 9:50 p.m. at the four businesses. Q-Sex News Mannequin-Man Is Here To Stay! Ferndale, MI: A Detroit man with a history of smashing store windows to grab female mannequins has been accused of indulging his fetish again. Ronald Dotson, 39, was arrested and jailed October 9 after breaking a window at a cleaning-supply company to get at a mannequin in a black and white French maid's uniform, police said. A judge Thursday ordered him to undergo a psychiatric examination to determine whether he is competent to stand trial on charges of attempted breaking and entering. "Mr. Dotson went to prison and they haven't helped him," said his lawyer, Edward Cohn. "He got out of prison and he was right back out there. It's pretty bizarre." Dotson had been out of prison for less than a week when he was caught. His erotic pursuit of mannequins over the past 13 years has led to at least six convictions for breaking and entering and a stint in prison, police said. "He told his parole officer he was going to buy a mannequin so he didn't have to do these break-ins anymore," said Detective Brendan Moore said. "Apparently that didn't work out." So what! Q-Sex News London Calling London, ENGLAND: A man who lurked in the women's toilets at a police training center in Hendon has been caught trying to take photos of some of the country's top policewomen - sitting on the bathroom. One senior officer was snapped by contractor Martin Taylor, 36, who had been hired to fit window blinds around the prestigious Peel Center, in Aerodrome Road, Hendon, in August. The officer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "I was in the toilets and caught him trying to take photos of me with his mobile phone. I stopped him and got the phone off him. We launched an investigation and found other pictures on his phone." Taylor had been given security clearance at the leadership academy in Hendon, which is associated with training some of the most senior police officers in the country. He had sneaked into the bathroom and locked himself into a cubicle next to women using the toilet, and then positioned his phone camera to capture officers in a compromising position. Police arrested Taylor, of Carlshalton Road, Sutton, and charged him with three counts of voyeurism under the Sexual Offences Act. He pleaded guilty at Barnet Magistrates Court on September 28 and is due to be sentenced. Taylor faces up to two years in jail and is likely to be put on the Sex Offenders Register. Q-Sex News Out In The West Texas Town Of El Paso... EL Paso, TX: In the first two days of the trial of the owner of El Paso's 'Naked Harem' strip club, two men from local public service departments testified that they had sex at the club. Owner Phyllis Woodall faces a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. On Wednesday a sheriff's deputy testified that he had sex with a dancer at the Naked Harem. On Thursday a firefighter who says he's frequented the club since the late 1990's, testified that he did the same. David Andrade, who is still a fire truck driver, admitted under oath that he's had sex with 15 different dancers over the years. Andrade said he would pay $130 to go to a private VIP room with the women. Andrade, who said he knew what he was doing was illegal, was granted immunity by the prosecution. Among the others who testified Thursday was a former dancer who admitted to having sex with clients at the club. Woodall faces two to 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Sex at a Strip Club? Q-News Bust Michigan Spa Busted Ann Arbor, MI: The business card for Skin Care Philosophie advertises facials, hair removal, light touch massage and hot stone therapy. The unwritten services, Ann Arbor police allege, include sex acts for money. The business was shuttered late Tuesday as police arrested the owner and two employees in the latest undercover investigation tied to a potential brothel in the city. Police zeroed in on Skin Care Philosophie, operating out of an older office building behind a Dairy Queen on West Stadium Boulevard, after readers who saw an Ann Arbor News article on another brothel bust at the end of June called to offer tips, said Police Sgt. Brian Jatczak of Ann Arbor's Special Investigations Unit. "I hope the message is becoming pretty clear that if someone opens up one of these, we're going to investigate and shut it down," Jatczak said. Police believe Skin Care Philosophie opened at its current site in the 2300 block of Shelby Avenue earlier this year, but formerly operated as the Cypress Spa on Jackson Road in Scio Township. Neither business name appears to be registered with Washtenaw County, but Skin Care Philosophie registered with the state as a limited liability corporation in January. Jatczak said his unit began investigating the business about six weeks ago and sent an undercover officer in, who was solicited by employees during massages that occurred with the women partially nude. He said the initial fee was $60, and prices discussed for sex acts varied from an average of $40 to $60. "They appeared to be getting 10-plus customers a day," Jatczak said. "But we never saw any women go in there." Officers with the Special Investigations Unit, Crime Response Unit and Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team searched the business Tuesday evening, collecting financial records, ledgers and other evidence, Jatczak said. Authorities also searched the owner's South Lyon home. Police arrested the 39-year-old owner and two employees - a 27-year-old Ann Arbor woman and 31-year-old Dexter woman. They were released pending charges that could include prostitution and operating a house of prostitution, police said. A total of seven employees worked at the business, Jatczak said. After the search was over, police padlocked the business. It doesn't appear police investigated any potential prostitution at the spa when it was located in Scio Township. Washtenaw County Sheriff's Cmdr. Dave Egeler said the business apparently moved to the location in the 5100 block of Jackson Road between 2000 and 2001. Q-Sex News Mickey Gets Jiggy With Goofy Europe: Euro Disney bosses are said to be furious after a pirate video was released showing Minnie Mouse and Goofy simulating sex. The costumed characters simulate sex in an illicit clip shot at a theme park and circulated on the internet. The footage even shows Mickey Mouse in a gay clinch with a snowman. Minutes after the backstage frolics, the characters go out to perform their regular Disney routine in front of hundreds of kids. An insider said: "It's Disney characters as you've never seen them before. Goofy grabs Minnie's boobs but the highlight has to be Mickey's gay romp." The two minute clip is believed to have been shot by another worker with a concealed camera at Disneyland Resort Paris. A Disney spokeswoman said: "We are aware of the video that was taken in an area not accessible to guests at Disneyland Resort Paris." "We regret any offence it might cause. Action has been taken to prevent this happening again." Disney declined to say whether any staff had been sacked or disciplined. Q-News Bust Mile High Prostitution Busts Glenwood Springs, CO: The owner of one Glenwood Springs massage parlor and an employee of a second were arrested on prostitution-related charges in apparently unrelated incidents last week. The arrests are highly unusual for Glenwood Springs, so much so that city police had to consult with other agencies to decide how to carry out the undercover operations that led to the arrests, Chief Terry Wilson said. Arrested were Qing Zhang, 41, the owner of Asian Day Spa at 718 Cooper Avenue, and Hui Jun Mu, 48, an employee of A-1 Chinese Health Care Massage at 1026-B Grand Avenue. Both women also lived at those addresss, police said. Zhang faces charges of prostitution, unlawful sexual contact and keeping a place of prostitution. Jun Mu is charged with prostitution and unlawful sexual contact. All are misdemeanor charges, police said. The two were taken to Garfield County Jail but both have posted bonds and been released. Wilson said he has no reason to suspect the owner of the business where Jun Mu worked knew prostitution was occurring there. Attempts to reach the owner in person and by phone were unsuccessful, but a man contacted there repeatedly said the arrest was the result of a misunderstanding. However, a police affidavit describes what police believe was an attempt to provide sexual services for money. An undercover officer wearing a wireless transmitter entered the business early Thursday evening and paid $40 for a half-hour massage. The officer says Jun Mu touched his private parts, then asked "you want?" and when he said yes told him it would cost $60, according to the affadavit. At the Asian Day Spa, an undercover officer met a woman around 8:40 p.m., Thursday, who identified herself as "Gigi," the officer’s report said. The woman, later identified as Zhang, said the massage price was $65, and then told him the price was $50 when he asked for a half-hour massage. He then asked if it included massaging both his back and front. "She stated, 'for you I make special,'" the officer's report said. Zhang then began touching his private parts and asking "you wanna pay?" and when he said yes, she indicated it would cost $40 for a certain sexual act and "60 for me on you," police allege. She then removed all but her underpants, lay down beside him and began rubbing against him, at which point he said he thought he had only $40, the report continues. When she got up and began to perform the act she had offered at that price, he signaled other officers and they arrested her, the report states. Wilson said police began investigating "after receiving hints and allegations I guess for the last couple of months about two different businesses in the downtown area that are billed as kind of Oriental massage places." Q-News Bust Take The Last Train To Clarkstown Clarkstown, NY: Nine women have been arrested on prostitution charges during an undercover investigation into businesses that advertise therapeutic massages but employ women who solicit sex for cash at the end of the rubdown, Clarkstown police said yesterday. As part of the investigation, the District Attorney's Office is taking legal action to have the businesses evicted, police said. Businesses offering body massages capped off with offers of sex have been an continuous problem across Rockland for years, leading to periodic police investigations. The businesses often operate in strip mall storefronts or office buildings. Clarkstown police sent in plainclothed officers at least twice to most of the nine targeted businesses in town from April to Thursday. As a result, nine women, all of whom live outside the county, have been arrested at five of the businesses. "In each case, we sent undercover officers in, and after a massage, they were offered sexual acts for an extra fee," Clarkstown Detective Lt. Charles Delo said. "We went in twice to most businesses to show it was not an isolated incident and it was an ongoing process." Officers were not solicited at four other similar businesses, police said. The last arrest came Thursday at New City Massage and Body Works, 37B S. Main St., New City. Arrests were made previously at Bardonia Spa, 132 Route 304; Asian Therapy, 363 S. Middletown Road, Nanuet; Health and Stress Management, 11A Esquire Road, New City; and Rose Spa, 275 Route 304, Bardonia. Eight of the women gave police home addresses in Queens and Brooklyn, while another woman lives in New Jersey. The police and town crackdown on the illegal massage parlors represents a quality-of-life issue. "In a sense, this is a victimless crime," Delo said. "We consider it kind of seedy, and we don't really want those businesses in town." Police were looking into whether the women were forced into the sex trade. There have been investigations into international smuggling of women into the United States to work as prostitute to pay off their debt for transport. Delo said the women arrested didn't give detectives any indication that they had been coerced. Most of those arrested were illegal immigrants from South Korea, China and Russia, he said. Police across Rockland have found that the women working in these massage businesses are transient. For example, Spring Valley police arrested several women on prostitution charges this year after they were bused into the village from New Jersey. "We've run into cases where the women have been arrested in different states for the same thing," Delo said. "They are moved on to other places. Police, at one time, also charged the women who were accused of prostitution with a felony count of giving massages without a license under state Education Law. Many times, the police used the lack of a license to try to close down the business. I guess, no real crime is going on in Clarkstown! ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() 10/09/2006
Q-Sex News The Big Easy Dollar New Orleans, LA: For prostitutes working the streets of New Orleans, the post-flood era has sparked a boom in business, largely owing to the influx of an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 out-of-town workers away from their families with money to blow, police said. It's "like the Super Bowl" for sex workers, said Deputy Chief James Scott, commander of the Police Department's Intelligence Division, from his division's headquarters in a trailer. Though police are making more arrests for prostitution than before Hurricane Katrina, Scott said quantifying such results is difficult because undercover officers often can't develop conclusive evidence to make a clear-cut prostitution case. It often takes a transfer of cash, "getting naked with them" and clear evidence that the prostitute wants to trade a sexual favor for cash and not just because "she thinks you're hot," Scott said. Suspected prostitutes in today's New Orleans, where a lack of bed space in the Orleans Parish Prison has authorities routinely transferring hundreds of prisoners accused of more serious crimes to out-of-town jails, are often being given municipal summonses rather than jail time for lesser offenses such as solicitation. And even when suspected prostitutes are taken into custody, they're often back on the streets in a matter of minutes, Scott said. With the lure of big money and small consequences, he said, the city has attracted out-of-town prostitutes who ply their trade mostly in the French Quarter. Before Katrina, most vice officers could identify many of the prostitutes by name, Scott said. Lots of new faces. "It's just a totally different crowd (in the Quarter now). If you look, you'll see more males in the crowd. They have a tremendous amount of cash to spend. And they're out there and they're looking for women. They're looking to drink and have a good time. They're stuck here without their families, and that has attracted prostitutes." Prostitutes in this Wild West-like new New Orleans have stepped up their game, Scott said, moving away from street solicitation and onto a more advanced means of selling their wares: the Internet. Prostitutes hand prospective clients a card with an e-mail or Web-site address where they can make "dates." The new technique makes it much more difficult for vice officers to make cases because they only get the e-mail address on the initial face-to-face meeting, and then only if the prostitute believes they're a real customer and not a cop. Only later, after making the date via e-mail, can they make an arrest at the second meeting. "With money to Blow." - Pun away good Deputy! ~ $2.00 Bob ![]() 10/08/2006

Q-News Bust Massage Interrupts Norwalk, CT: Police officers Wednesday night capped a two-month undercover investigation with a raid on Nirvana Health Spa and the arrests of 11 people on prostitution-related charges, police said yesterday. Ten officers of the Special Services Division, the police department's vice squad, served a search and seizure warrant on Nirvana Health Spa at 181 Main Avenue at about 9pm. Wednesday. After entering the spa without force, officers found six women and three male customers either naked or semi-clothed, police spokesman Lt. Timothy Murphy said. The locked door of one massage room had to be broken down. The investigation was undertaken after August raids on massage parlors Tranquility Spa and Liberty Spa and a late spring raid on Hott Sun led to a spike in activity at Nirvana, said Officer Mark Edwards, who headed the investigations. Special Services supervisor Sgt. Thomas Mattera said the eight women arrested claimed to be Korean nationals. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has been contacted to determine whether the women are in the country legally, Mattera said. The addresses given by those arrested have not been verified, he said. Six of the women were charged with prostitution and conspiracy to commit prostitution. Two others were charged with permitting and promoting prostitution. Three men were charged with patronizing a prostitute. 'This is an ongoing effort to rid Norwalk of its prostitution houses,' Murphy said. Police Chief Harry Rilling said prostitution has no place in the city. -We focus on those types of things that have a negative effect on the quality of life for our citizens, and this is one of them,' Rilling said. Rilling said he hopes to seize properties from owners who allow repeated instances of prostitution on their land or in their buildings. The state's Nuisance Abatement and Quality of Life Act authorizes prosecutors to bring civil nuisance actions against persons and owners of property involved in any illegal activity. Action can be taken for a minimum of three arrests or the issuance of three arrest warrants indicating a pattern of criminal activity occurring on the property in a one-year period, according to the chief state's attorney's office. Police also confiscated more than $15,000, condoms and a white powdery substance suspected to be illegal, Murphy said. Edwards said officers also seized business records, a blue appointment book containing customer names and credit card receipts. Police will contact credit card customers to let them know their names were found on the premises and to talk to them. I guess there is no real crime going on the Norwalk, if they have so much time to spend on this nonsense! Q-Sex News Sorry Old Dude! Spokane, WA: For a 67-year-old homeowner and his wife, wrongly subjected to a shattering pornography search, saying, "Oops, wrong number," is not enough. Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich apologized Tuesday for the blunder, which he said resulted when Detective Timothy Hines tried to nail whoever was responsible for obscene calls to at least 20 women enrolled at Whitworth College. Hines wrote down the wrong figures for a telephone number associated with the calls, and he obtained a search warrant for a house in Spokane, miles from the correct location in suburban Spokane Valley, Knezovich said. The irate homeowner had deputies dump out drawers, go through his wallet and checkbook, seized his computers, CD's, floppy disks, VHS tapes and other material and refused to clean up the mess in the raid Sept. 27. A half-dozen sheriff's vehicles converged on the house, and after taking photos outside, Hines told officers within hearing of the neighbors, "Now let's go inside and get some porn," the owner said. Inside, the man said, a female deputy "giggled" about remarks at his expense. The victim said he had hired a lawyer. Hines realized his mistake Monday when he checked the accuracy of the phone number with a telephone company, sheriff's Capt. Bruce Mathews said. By then the target of the search, a 42-year-old man who used parts of his name to contrive aliases, was gone. However, he was finally taken into custody on Wednesday. Knezovich, the sheriff, said he plans to adopt a more structured system for checking facts in search warrants, adding that Hines probably would not be disciplined."I could see it if it was a blatant lack of diligence," he said, "but sometimes things like that happen." "A number can get transposed." He said he accepted responsibility for procedural problems in the foul-up but warned that if the homeowner's assertions of rudeness and humiliation by deputies are substantiated, they could face penalties ranging from verbal warnings to written reprimands for unprofessional conduct. Q-News Bust To China With Love Albany, NY: Three women were arrested at a nail salon on Madison Avenue, but police said it was not a nail salon at all. They said what was going on behind closed doors was illegal. It was no surprise to neighbors when the owner of a nail salon and massage parlor on Madison Avenue was arrested with two other women in a prostitution sting. Police said the women would make appointments with men, charging them $50 for a massage. Then later they would negotiate an additional fee for various sexual acts in the back rooms. If they didn't have cash on hand, Drug Interdiction Unit Inspector John Burke said credit cards were acceptable. "You could have sex for credit," he said. "If the guy didn't have money, the women would say, we have a machine." Police did find thousands of dollars in their wallets and purses. They said the whole thing was a very organized operation with several other girls rotating in and out of the business. The money would be collected, taken to New York City and then sent to China. Police said that almost everything inside this business including the nail salon was a coverup for what was really going on. In fact the women did not even have a license for the salon. A woman who works just a few doors down said she tried to get her nails done there once, but was told to come back. Now she knows why. "I wasn't surprised because I had heard it through the grapevine," she said. "It's pretty gross, but I'm so glad someone closed them down finally." "It's pretty gross..."
